New Global Poker Awards are announced

The first ever Global Poker Awards are set to be given out on April 5th.

It represents the coming together of the American Poker Awards and European Poker Awards.

The companies behind these awards, the GPI (Global Poker Index) who ran the American version and Poker Central announced they will be broadcast live on PokerGo with Poker Stars sponsoring the event.

The President of the GPI, Eric Danis, had this to say about the event:

“Our global initiatives behind the European Poker Awards and the American Poker Awards come together starting this year. We’re excited to bring recognition to the poker world’s best players and most prominent industry contributors on an unprecedented scale.”

The categories are to be confirmed but there are expected to be around 20 awards.

A nomination panel will narrow down the list for each before of a jury of industry professionals select each winner.

“We’re thrilled to deliver streaming coverage of the first-ever Global Poker Awards show live from the PokerGO Studio. We look forward to celebrating the achievements of the industry’s best and brightest. PokerGO subscribers will be guaranteed a front row seat for all the festivities,” said Poker Central President Sam Simmons.
