Vitalijs Zavorotnijs wins EPT Barcelona Main Event for €600k
Many congrats go to Vitalijs Zavorotnijs who becomes the first Latvian to win a WPT Main Event at the EPT Barcelona.
He outlasted a field of 1,227 players to walk away with the first prize. He won €600k, which includes a $15k seat to the Baccarat Crystal WPT Tournament of Champions.
It was his 2nd big win of the year. He won €85,300 by winning the Kings of Tallinn €1,100 Main Event as well.
“I haven’t changed how I have played this year, but I do feel more mentally prepared,” he told the WPT. “I know I can play well, but I also know you cannot win without luck, and I’ve had luck.”
The €3,300 buy-in generated a prize pool of €3,570,570 – the 2nd largest Main Event prize pool of the current event.
“How I feel right now is hard to describe,” Zavorotnijs said after his win. “A mix of emotion and exhaustion. I’m really tired and really happy! When you work hard for something, and it happens, to be in this spot right now, it feels like a dream come true.
“I am now going to spend some more time with my wife, who won a satellite into the Main Event this week, and my four-year-old daughter. Then I will go to Vegas for the WPT Tournament of Champions.”
The final 6 were all of different nationalities and were as follows:
